Rebekah Lambert, aka Unashamedly Creative

I began my career in the 90’s supporting myself through university by doing marketing on the side. At the time, I was studying a creative arts degree and had my sights on being an actor, director and writer. However when real life got in the way, I bootstrapped my career from customer service through to technology, onto product design and finally into marketing and community management working for the world’s largest electronic dating agency, Lavalife.

Lavalife was an amazing place to work where being self challenging was held in high esteem and innovation was second nature. During this time, I conducted load tests, became the universal translator between customer service, the technology department and marketing as well as wrote radio and TVC scripts, web articles, produced online and offline events and did the first major piece of customer research on member interaction, marketing responses and spending patterns.

Post 7 and ½ years at Lavalife, I started working in the agency world for the likes of Avaya, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Intel and Walt Disney Internet Group. I pulled long hours, flew around the country doing road shows, serviced channel marketing needs with print, premiums and promotions, managed million dollar accounts and became adept at quick turnarounds. After working up from project manager to ANZ Business Manager, I found myself increasingly being pressured to focus on the company’s profit margins as opposed to the client’s needs, so I decided to strike out on my own.

From here, my adventure with Unashamedly Creative began.
